Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Still not sure? Give us a call and we will happily talk it through with no obligation.

Pricing and payments

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No, there is no charge just for us to turn up. You only pay for the work we do: labour is charged from our standard hourly rate, and we will always agree a fixed price for any repair before we start, so there are no surprises.

How do I pay?

We accept all major debit and credit cards, bank transfer and cash. You will get a clear, fixed price agreed before any repair work begins, with no hidden extras.

Do you give free quotes?

Yes, quotes for installations and planned work are free, and a quotation is a fixed price valid for 30 days. Diagnosing a fault is chargeable work, billed from our standard hourly rate. Full details are in our terms and conditions.

Response times and areas

How quickly can you get to an emergency?

For genuine emergencies we aim to be with you within 2 hours across our Cambridge core area. Call us and we will give you an honest arrival time on the spot. See our emergency call-out service.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Cambridge and cover Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and London. Cambridge and the surrounding villages are our main service area. If you are a little further out, just ask. More detail on our areas covered page.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm. We also cover evenings, weekends and bank holidays for emergency call-outs, charged at our out-of-hours rate, which we will tell you about before we attend.

Trust and guarantees

Are you Gas Safe registered and insured?

Yes. All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers, and we are fully insured and DBS checked for your peace of mind.

Is your work guaranteed?

Every job is backed by our 12-month workmanship guarantee. If something is not right, we will come back and put it right.

Got a problem you would rather try fixing yourself first? Our advice guides cover the safe DIY jobs: repressurising the boiler, bleeding radiators, cold spots and what to check when the hot water stops.
